Pontiac Division tossed a big grenade into the muscle car wars of the mid 60's with the introduction of their legendary GTO performance car line up. Rotisserie restored with absolutely no expense spared, this particular GTO re-defines the term open wallet restoration and is about as good as it gets for anyone looking to own an out an out show car.
It was the W62 GTO option that gave the 64 Tiger it's claws and true to form featured a big basket of performance and convenience options some of which include; Positraction differential, Hurst 4 speed, guage package, high compression 389 engine, Strato buckets, factory tach, sports console, handling package with front sway bar and specialized rear control arms to name a few. This particular GTO is the very definition of a turn key car with show miles only since restored that runs and drives like new with everything in working order down to it's power top.
No compromise attention to detail was given to every exterior component on this GTO including the paint finish thay's been PPG Base/ Cleared in Grenadier Red, color sanded and high speed polished (over original sheet metal) to a mirror finish right through to the inside of the trunk lid. All of the exterior trim from the mirrors to the wheel lip moldings are equally as perfect by way of triple plate chroming, professional polishing or NOS replacement with the end result being a car that literally looks like a rolling house of mirrors.
This is a Freemont California built, 1 of 6244, GTO convertible that was sold new at Metropolitan Pontiac spending it's time between Northern California and Arizona before making it's way to Vancouver in 2014. As well this is a collector owned, Barrett Jackson sold, multiple trophy winning, West Coast car that includes PHS documentation, window sticker and receipts for restoration work completed. An absolutely immaculate engine bay is home to it's original X78 389 engine that's been rebuilt to factory standards ( Tri Power added) using stock internals. The 389 was factory blueprinted for performance and featured large port heads, windage tray, bigger cam, specialized valve springs and 4 bolt mains to name a few that brought 330 HP and 425 ft lbs of torque to the party.
